The Idaho State Police confirmed it is investigating reports of shots fired into a vehicle from another vehicle on I-84 between Caldwell and Meridian on Thursday morning. The alleged incident occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near milepost 26.

A 23-year-old Ontario, Ore., man driving a Nissan Altima said he had just made a lane change when he heard what sounded like gun fire coming from a white Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution traveling behind him. The Ontario, Ore., man said he continued traveling east, and the Mitsubishi pulled up alongside him. The driver of the Nissan said that's when the driver of the Mitsubishi displayed a gun and then fired multiple shots at the Nissan. The driver of the Nissan said the Mitsubishi exited I-84 at the Ten Mile Road exit.

The driver of the Nissan told ISP the shots apparently missed his vehicle. He also told ISP that the Mitsubishi had Canyon County license plates.

ISP asks anyone with information regarding the alleged incident to call them at 208-846-7550.
