Electric Car Charging Station to be Unveiled in Downtown Boise

Posted By on Sat, Nov 15, 2014 at 8:06 AM

Downtown Boise's first electric vehicle charging station will be unveiled next week.

The Idaho Sierra Club will cut the ribbon Tuesday, Nov. 18 on the station at (where else?) the Sierra Club headquarters at 502 W. Franklin. Local club officials say the station is particularly convenient because of its proximity to downtown shops and restaurants, the Statehouse, Boise City Hall and other government offices.

"The establishment of charging stations throughout downtown is critical as citizens in the Treasure Valley adopt electric vehicles as their choice of transportation, said Harold Orien, chairman of the Idaho Chapter of the Sierra Club, Middle Snake Group. "We encourage all downtown businesses and government offices to follow our lead.|

The charging station will be free to the public and officials promise that it will work with all brands/models. A 50 percent charge requires about 2-3 hours for most vehicles.
