Thanksgiving Police Blotter: Car Burglary, Shoplifting and Domestic Violence

Soon after Boise Police asked the public to help them nab a suspect responsible for a string of car burglaries, police arrested a Boise man, sending him to the Ada County Jail.

Earlier this week, Boise Police released a photograph of the suspect and said the man was seen in a shopping plaza parking lot on the 7600 block of West Overland Road. The suspect had reportedly been looking into cars and checking to see if doors were unlocked. Police added that he was able to get into two of the vehicles, stealing multiple items.

After a citizen spotted the photo in local media, police were able to question the suspect and arrest him in connection with the break-ins.

Tyler Martinez, 22, is charged with two felony counts of burglary.

Boise Police were also summoned to a local retail store on Thanksgiving night. That's when store employees said they witnessed a man shoplifting electronic items. When police caught up with the suspect, they also discovered that he was in possession of several drugs: Adderall, a Methadone pill, and a plastic bag that tested positive for Methamphetamine. The suspect also had drug paraphernalia. Additionally, the suspect gave police officers a false name. Making matters even worse was that the suspect had two felony warrants for his arrest.

Steven Grover, 25, of Idaho Falls was charged with burglary, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, giving false information to an officer and failure to appear.

Also on Thanksgiving night, police were called to a domestic violence incident at a local motel. When they arrived on the scene, police found the suspect attempting to drive away. But after stopping the vehicle, the suspect failed several field sobriety tests and police discovered that he had two previous DUI convictions.

David Reiland, 58, of Fort Jones, Calif., was booked into the Ada County Jail on charges of domestic assault, attempted strangulation, violation of a no-contact order, felony DUI and driving without privileges.
