Teen Killed After Being Hit by a Car in Downtown Boise

Posted By on Sun, Dec 7, 2014 at 10:42 AM

A Boise teen is dead after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Boise.

Witnesses say the 14-year-old boy may have been riding—or had bent down to pick up—his skateboard on the east side of Ninth Street near Grove Street at approximately 4 p.m. That's when a truck, driven by a 43-year-old Boise man, struck the boy while exiting a parking garage.

According to reports, the boy was conscious following the collision and leaped to his feet. He was assisted at the scene by an off-duty Boise firefighter and taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he died of his injuries.

Officers say there is no evidence of drugs or alcohol being involved in the crash, but the incident is still under investigation by Boise police. Because of conflicting witness accounts, police are requesting that anyone who may have seen the incident call Boise Police Dispatch at 208-377-6790.
