North Junior High Students, Staff Mourn the Death of Boise Skateboarder

A long shadow hangs over Boise's North Junior High today as classmates, faculty and staff mourn the death of 13-year-old Brenden Rogers, who was killed late Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses said Rogers had been riding a skateboard on the sidewalk on Ninth Street when he was struck by a large pick-up truck leaving a parking garage near the corner of South Ninth and West Front streets. Rogers died of blunt force trauma a short time later at a Boise hospital.

Friends held a candlelight vigil Dec. 7 near Rhodes Skate Park and placed candles, flowers and a skateboard near the park that Rogers frequented.

Meanwhile, the Boise Police Department continues to investigate the collision and asks any member of the public who may have witnessed the incident to call them at 208-377-6790.
