Slick Highway Conditions Claim Another Idaho Life

Posted By on Sun, Dec 28, 2014 at 10:25 AM

Treacherous driving conditions claimed yet another Idaho life Saturday when a northbound car slid across the center lane on U.S. 95 in northern Idaho and slammed into a southbound vehicle.

Idaho State Police report that the southbound vehicle hit the passenger side of the northbound car near the Benewah County community of Tensed.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, 51-year-old Russell Qualls and his wife, 50-year-old Lisa Qualls, of Moscow, were transported to Kootenai Health and Medical Center for injuries. But another passenger, 13-year-old Kalkidan Qualls, died of injuries suffered in the crash. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were not injured. All occupants were wearing seat belts.

ISP is continuing to investigate the crash.

At least six Idahoans have lost their lives on area highways since the beginning of the holiday period.
