Boise Man Charged With Rape After Five-Year Investigation

A Boise man is behind bars today, charged with two counts of rape, two counts of burglary, and one count of attempted rape.

The Boise Police Department has been investigating a string of sexual assaults in 2009 and 2010. BPD investigators said that prompt reporting of the incidents assisted the 5-year-long investigation come to a conclusion.

Andy Gallegos, 26, of Boise, has been arrested and charged in connection with three separate incidents. The first took place in Winstead Park July 15, 2009. That's when a woman reported to police that she'd been attacked between 1 and 2 a.m. Police continue to investigate the incident, as two other possible suspects remain at large.

The second incident took place Aug. 29, 2010, inside the victim's North End home. The burglary charge stems from Gallegos' alleged entry into the home with the intent to commit a crime. 

Gallegos has also been charged with a Sept. 16, 2010, rape and burglary in a North End home. 

He was arrested at a Garden City home by Boise Police Department and Garden City Police officers the evening of Jan. 7.
