BPD Bust Man for Meth Possession After Foot Pursuit

Posted By on Thu, Mar 5, 2015 at 11:09 AM

Two Boiseans were behind bars Wednesday, charged with felony controlled substance violations.

At approximately 2:03 a.m. the morning of March 4, Boise Police officers stopped a vehicle near the intersection of South Vista Avenue and Airport Way for failing to come to a complete stop at a stop light. As officers made contact with the vehicle's driver and passenger, they saw a small baggie containing a crystalline powder on the vehicle's floorboard.

When officers attempted to detain the driver, the suspected resisted and attempted to make a getaway on foot, but after a short pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody. A K9 unit alerted officers to the presence of narcotics near the vehicle, and a search of the vehicle revealed the original baggie, as well as three others containing similar white crystalline substances, which tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.

Daniel Smith, 32, of Boise, has been charged with felony controlled substance violation-meth and misdemeanor resisting or obstructing officers. Kathleen Edwards, 36, of Boise, is charged with controlled substance violation-meth and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
