A Canadian man died Monday after jumping from the Perrine Bridge over the Snake River, the Twin Falls Times-News reports

Bryan Turner, 32, of Vancouver, British Columbia, was conducting a BASE jump from the bridge when his parachute failed to deploy. He was airlifted by helicopter to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center, where he died.

At about noon, emergency personnel received a 911 call from Turner's fellow base jumpers and kayakers, who performed CPR until paramedics arrived at approximately 1 p.m. That's when paramedics fitted Turner with an oxygen mask and IV for fluids.

The rescue efforts drew about three dozen onlookers to the bridge. Art Selin of Twin Falls told the Times-News that he saw Turner hit the water, saying that the jumper's parachute had completely failed to open.

"He went right in the water without a chute," he said.
