A northern Idaho woman says she suffers from extreme emotional distress and no longer feels safe after her backyard became the scene of an officer-related shooting last summer.

An official inquiry to the June 2014 incident concluded Coeur d'Alene police were justified in the shooting but KREM-TV reports that the woman, Sarah Shields, is now planning to sue the City of Coeur d'Alene because she's anxious anytime she sees a police officer.

Police said Thomas White, a suspect in a domestic dispute, pointed a gun at law enforcement before they fired. White was killed by the gunfire.

But the woman who witnessed the shooting says the City of Coeur d'Alene didn't even clean up the bloody mess following the shooting. She also says police never attempted to clear her from her home during the incident. But bullets damaged her windows, walls and pieces of furniture.

The woman is looking for $18,009 in compensation for her emotional and post-traumatic stress.
