Eastern Idaho Lawman Kills Suspect in Jefferson County

The Southeast Idaho Critical Incident Team is investigating an overnight fatal shooting that occurred just before midnight on April 6 near the Jefferson County community of Rigby. 

KIDK-TV reports the incident began across the Jefferson County/Bonneville County line where Bonneville County Sheriff's deputies were in pursuit of a vehicle. After the suspect had driven into Jefferson County, law enforcement said the vehicle smashed into a concrete foundation. The driver allegedly stepped out of the vehicle and pointed a rifle at a Bonneville County Sheriff's deputy. After being ordered to drop the weapon, law enforcement said the suspect refused and that when they fired on the suspect, who was pronounced a short time later at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

The identity of the suspect was not available.
