Sorensen Announces Run

Posted By on Wed, Mar 7, 2007 at 4:00 AM

Sorensen runs again—nope, different Sorensen.

This time it's Dean Sorensen—former state legislator and husband of Sheila Sorensen, who lost the 2006 Republican Party primary for the First District Congressional seat to Bill Sali.

Sorensen announced he is running for the District 18 Senate seat, currently held by Minority Caucus Chair Kate Kelly, a Boise Democrat.

"I want to help revamp our property tax system and work to resolve our current local traffic gridlock and transportation issues," Sorensen said in a written release. "I also want to present solutions for our rising health care costs in Idaho."

Sorensen served two terms in the State Legislature, in 1984 and 1986, and was the House caucus chairman during his second term.

He also sat on the Capital City Development Corporation board for eight years.
