Hey Friend, Need a Nonpaying Job?

Posted By on Thu, Jun 7, 2007 at 4:00 AM

Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter has "hired" friend and campaign consultant Mike Gwartney, who ran his transition team, to take over the Department of Administration.

Gwartney will take the place of Keith Johnson, who followed a well-trod path to take a job as a lobbyist.

From the Otter news release:

Gwartney said today that he is seeking efficiencies but is committed to maintaining critical state functions.

“We’re not getting rid of purchasing or building services or any other essential functions. If getting those jobs done better and more efficiently means changing to whom people or functions report, then that’s what we’ll do. This is about achieving goals and delivering services for Idaho taxpayers in the best way possible,” Gwartney said.
