And Then There Were Three

Looks like it's official—Walt Minnick is running for Idaho's First District Congressional seat. Well, at least it's almost official.

Minnick said today that the official announcement in Boise will come Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Idaho Historical Museum in Julia Davis Park. It's just one of four campaign stops in a statewide tour that will include stops in Caldwell, Coeur d'Alene and Lewiston.

Rumors of Minnick's possible run have been abundant, and BW picked up on it a few weeks ago. The announcement means there will be a three-way Democratic primary, pitting Minnick, the former CEO of Trus-Joist, against Larry Grant and North Idaho resident Rand Lewis.

On the Republican side, incumbent Rep. Bill Sali will face off against Canyon County resident Matt Salisbury.

Minnick is no stranger to political campaigns. His last political campaign was in 1996, when he unsuccessfully challenged Sen. Larry Craig, losing by 16 percentage points
