The Idaho Statesman was a finalist, not a winner, but a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for its reporting on U.S. Sen. Larry Craig's bathroom problems.

They were nominated in the "breaking news" category, but lost out to the Washington Post's coverage of the Virginia Tech sniper incident.

The paper's staff was nominated "for its tenacious coverage of the twists and turns in the scandal involving the state’s senator, Larry Craig," according to the list of nominated finalists.
