Risch Rakes It In

Posted By on Tue, Apr 15, 2008 at 4:00 AM

Lt. Gov. Jim Risch is rolling in it—money that is. In the form of more than $900,000 in campaign contributions.

Risch's campaign for the U.S. Senate reported today that it has just less than $936,000 cash on hand at the end of the first quarter filing period—another example of how he is the heir apparent for Rep. Sen. Larry Craig's soon-to-be-vacant Senate seat.

"This campaign has had a very successful first quarter," Risch said in the written understatement of the year. "Vicki and I are very grateful for this widespread support in my bid to be Idaho’s next U.S. Senator.”

The required financial filings have yet to be updated on the Federal Election Commission's Web site, but we're looking forward to seeing how Risch's competitors, Democrat Larry Larocco and independent Rex Rammell compare.

Update

LaRocco announced that he took in $196,607 since January, giving him a total of $550,354 in donation since his campaign began.
