Butterfly Takes to the Air

Posted By on Mon, Jun 15, 2009 at 4:07 PM

The new album by Nashville-based singer/songwriter Butterfly Boucher, Scary Fragile, is now out. The charming Australian-born Boucher (rhymes with sloucher), who now calls Tennessee home, performed at the Knitting Factory several weeks ago with the decidedly non-country collective Ten out of Tenn, a group of 10 musicians on a mission to let the rest of the world know that there's more coming out of Nashville than rhinestones and pedal-steel guitar music. Boucher's versatility and talent made her a standout in a show full of versatile, talented musicians.
In the interview with, the smoldering songbird speaks about working with producer David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Regina Spektor, Kelly Clarkson, The Strokes), growing up in Australia, why she called the album Scary Fragile and what it's like to be named Butterfly.

You can listen to Scary Fragile via Paste Magazine's album stream.

Boucher will be at the Doug Fir in Portland, 0re. on Monday, June 29 and Seattle's Crocodile Cafe on Tuesday, June 30.
