From the congested e-mail inbox of the A&E editor: Darius Rucker

New local concert promoter, SilverTag Live, is bringing the man most often mistakenly called Hootie to the Idaho Center in November.

Darius Rucker, the ratchety-voiced lead singer of '90s adult contemporary purveyors Hootie and the Blowfish, is scheduled to play a solo show at the Idaho Center on Sunday, Nov. 1. He's bringing special guest The Lost Trailers (whose lead singer Ryder Lee is usually pictured sporting a well-worn, straw cowboy hat much like Rucker's signature chapeau that he no longer wears). 5a91/1248978048-losttrailers_concert.jpgThe Lost Trailers have more than 23,000 Myspace friends—including Carrie Underwood—so I'm assuming they'll draw plenty of Idaho country-music fans. I'm also assuming that they may be the reason the venue is the Idaho Center and why tickets are on sale now, three-plus months before the show.

I caught Rucker and the rest of the Blowfish a couple of years ago at The Big Easy (pre Knitting Factory). To the best of my recollection, the show was not sold out; seats in the 1,000-capacity venue were still available. Even with sections closed off, The Idaho Center seats anywhere from 2,500 to 13,000. But Rucker has gone country himself and country-music fans are nothing if not loyal and more than willing to fill a concert venue. Maybe that warrants the arena setting.

If you are planning to attend the show (tickets are $30-$40), I'd love to hear from you. Leave me a comment.
