Our thoughts go out to the Jensen family

f60d/1249340476-jensen.jpgOn Sunday afternoon on I-84 outside of La Grande, Ore., Jens, Karen, Noah and Elijah Jensen were involved in a one-car crash. Karen did not survive; Jens, Noah and Elijah were seriously injured.

Elijah Jensen has long been a part of the Boise Weekly family. He won our annual Bad Cartoon Contest last year, and has contributed art to the BW cover on several occasions.

Elijah is a well-known face and voice in Boise's local music scene as well. His band, With Child, recently opened for Finn Riggins and Jared Mees and the Grown Children at Neurolux, he has performed at the Boise Experimental Music Festival and he played a major role in the success of the Rotating Tongues 2 music showcase at VAC in February among other things.

Many of us here at BW consider Elijah and/or members of his family our friends. To honor them, BW staffer Meshel Miller is making a quilt for the family and is inviting anyone who feels about the Jensens the way that we do to drop off a 4- by 4-inch square to be included in the quilt. You may use whatever fabric you'd like, and Meshel encourages you to write on, illustrate or decorate your square however you choose, or leave it blank if you'd rather. She needs the squares by no later than Monday, Aug. 10. You can leave them in a box in the front office marked "Jensen Quilt."

To Elijah and his family, you have our support, our thoughts and our deepest sympathies.
