Osaka soft opening Tuesday night

Posted By on Wed, Aug 5, 2009 at 9:41 AM

Last night, a few BW staffers dined at Osaka Japanese Sushi and Bar, a new Japanese restaurant housed where an old Japanese restaurant, Tacabi, used to be. Free Kirin, house wine, appetizers and half-priced entrees in a locally owned and operated establishment were definite checks in the pro column for us.

Last night's invitation-only soft opening ran rather smoothly. The service was solicitous, the food was good and the presentation was lovely.

Other than changing the paint color—still red, just less so—the new owners left much about the place as it had been, including the large paper light fixtures and the gold bead curtain. Good or bad? Time will tell.
