Even if you don’t know the first thing about how to make a roux or how to cook a rutabaga, you most likely have a copy of Joy of Cooking gathering dust on your shelf somewhere. One of the highest-selling cookbooks in the country, Joy of Cooking has helped guide American chefs since it was first published by Irma Rombauer in 1931.

Now, to celebrate the book’s 75th anniversary (your math isn’t off, the 75th anniversary did, indeed, happen back in 2006) Rombauer’s grandson Ethan Becker and his wife Susan Becker will be signing copies of the latest edition of this seminal cookbook at the Blue Moose Cafe in Eagle on Thursday, Aug. 13.

For $20 you can scarf some hors d'oeuvres, sip some Rombauer wines and hob nob with the Beckers. And if you’re all cookbooked out, you can also chat up Susan about being selected by Yoko Ono to develop greeting card lines for both her and John. I know, random, right?

Head here for more info on the book signing. Head to any thrift store in the Treasure Valley to pick up a signable copy of Joy of Cooking.
