Moscow Bike Racks Seek Artistic Flair

Posted By on Tue, Aug 25, 2009 at 2:47 PM

Hot on Boise’s heels, the City of Moscow decided to jump on the artsy bike rack bandwagon. The city’s arts department put out a call to artists to create 10 original designs to spruce up the city’s standard A-frame bike racks.

Artists of every ilk in Latah and Whitman County are encouraged to submit the following: the completed call to artist app, a concept statement that describes the theme and style of the rack, an original digital image of the design and a drawing template, which you can download here.

Winning entries will be selected by a panel that includes arts commission members, bicycle enthusiasts, business owners and citizens. Each designer will also receive a fat check for $200 to cover fabrication and material costs.

Here’s the challenge: You have to get those submissions in by this Friday, August 28, at 5 p.m. And remember: that’s Moscow time, kiddos.
