Scanning the Treasure Valley Food and Wine blog, we stumbled across an exciting piece of booze news: the tasting panel at the Chicago-based Beverage Tasting Institute recently slapped Koenig Huckleberry vodka with a “highly recommended” 89-point seal of approval. They described the Caldwell-distilled flavored vodka this way:

“Clear. Aromas of frosted huckleberry pastry and taffy have a nice potpourri edge follow through on a very smooth and silky entry to a moderately sweet, glycerous medium body with huckleberry ice cream and powdered sugar notes. Finishes with a sweetened berry-bergamot tea, dried flower, pepper, and mineral oil accented fade. Very nice, but very candied huckleberry flavor for mixing.”

Though BW staffers were some of the elite few who got to sample Koenig Huckleberry vodka before it had even hit Idaho liquor store shelves, we had far less fancy things to say about the sneakily potent liquor. Our tasting notes included gems like: “yumm,” “OMG” and “diss is thilicious.”
