From the congested e-mail inbox of the A&E editor: New Music Fest in Utah

January is a very busy time for little Park City, Utah, home to the world-renowned Sundance Film Festival, which runs Jan. 21-31. With the addition of the inaugural Orion Independent Music Festival, scheduled for Jan. 14-20, the little town is going to be bursting at the seams.

It would make sense to start small with a music festival, but maybe the organizers are banking on the influx of skiers who flock to the area each winter and hoping that the film folks will arrive early. Fifty-three independent acts from places like Chile, Canada, New York, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Utah and Idaho—including Sandpoint's Illusion 33 and Boise's own Equaleyes—will play during the six-day festival at venues throughout the city.

Highlights include California's teen rockers The Lost Boys who have opened for Kelly Clarkson and All-American Rejects; Canadian pianist and singer Ali Milner who recently played with Michael Buble; Australian singer Rick Price; and Portland, Ore.'s Jon Davidson, who plays Reef here in Boise on Wednesday, Jan. 13. (Read more about him in the upcoming issue of Boise Weekly.)
