Valentine's, a Time for ... Wine

As we were hard at work putting together the ultimate restaurant guide, we discovered that some local wineries are offering some pretty sweet deals for the Valentine’s Day Weekend.

Here’s a round up of what some of the area’s wineries are planning for all you (wine) lovers out there. And if you don’t have anyone to celebrate the holiday with, what better way to drown your sorrows?

Bitner Vinyards
16645 Plum Road, Caldwell
Open: Friday-Sunday, noon-5 p.m.
10 percent off a half case, 15 percent off a full case.

At the Urban Winemakers Cooperative
107 E. 44th St., Garden City
Open: Saturday-Sunday, noon-5 p.m.
Get a sneak peak of the 2009 Dry Rose and try some gourmet chocolates. $5 fee, refundable with purchase of wine.

Coiled Wines
850 Fulton St, Boise
Open: Saturday, 3-7 p.m.
Free wine tasting with both glasses and bottles for sale.

Davis Creek Cellars
429 Main St., Ste. 101, Marsing
Open: Friday-Saturday, noon-5 p.m., Sunday, 2-5 p.m.
Free gift wrapping with purchase.

Hells Canyon Winery
18835 Symms Road, Caldwell
Open: Saturday, noon-5 p.m., Sunday, 1-5 p.m.
Discounts on purchases, raffle prize drawings and treats. $5 fee includes a free glass.

Koenig Vineyards
20928 Grape Lane, Caldwell
Open: Friday-Sunday, noon-5 p.m.
Celebrate the release of the 2007 cabernet sauvignon.

Sawtooth Winery
13750 Surrey Lane, Nampa
Open: Tuesday-Sunday, noon-5 p.m.
Special bottle and case sales, including a gift with every $100 purchase, plus a dessert bar and wine tasting. $5 tasting fee.

Ste. Chapelle Winery
19348 Lowell Road, Caldwell
Open: Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon, Sunday, noon-4 p.m.
Valentine’s Day brunch on Sunday with seating from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. $30 per person, reservations required.

Williamson Orchards and Vineyards
19692 Williamson Lane, Caldwell
Open: Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Cheese and chocolate tasting to accompany wine.

Woodriver Cellars
3705 Highway 16, Eagle
Open: Saturday, 6-9 p.m., Sunday noon-9 p.m.
Special four-course dinner catered by Seasons Bistro served from 6-9 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday night with live music by guitarist Tim Siegert and a take-home Valentine’s package. $125 per couple, with one opening left on Sunday, reservations required. From noon-5 p.m. on Sunday, check out wine tasting, chocolate, wine tours and live music, as well as the release of the 2008 malbec.
