Local Musicians, Go Listen Boise Needs You (Even You Drummers)

Go Listen Boise, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization whose mission is to "foster a vibrant and diverse musical culture in the Boise area," is in charge of booking local opening acts for the summertime Alive After Five concert series for the second season in a row.

AAF kicks off in the Grove on Wednesday, June 2, so GLB is getting things rolling. They are taking applications from interested musicians/bands starting today through Thursday, April 1. The concert series runs for 18 Wednesdays, which means GLB will be scheduling 18 acts as well as a couple of alternates—last year Fauxbois stepped in when Bank received a last-minute touring opportunity.

GLB organizer Ali Ward said they are hoping to see some new names applying this year as well as applications from those acts who were cut simply due to the limited number of slots.

And this year, drummers are welcome.

Last year's "no-drums" rule caused a stir when bands applying for opening spots were informed they couldn't use their drum kits on stage. Ward said this year, GLB will make every effort to facilitate the whole band and just asks that musicians be "flexible with their stage plots and PA input requirements."

To apply, visit Make sure to have your band bio, a photo, contact info and links to your tunes at the ready. Artists who are selected to play will be notified by Thursday, April 15.
