One Woman's War

"It is the first responsibility of every citizen to question authority."
-Benjamin Franklin

It's an important axiom, one that we brave members of the alternative press hold dearly, that the possession of power does not equal moral administration. But the exposure of injustice doesn't always get results. Amy Trice, chairwoman of the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, went an extra step. On September 20, 1974 Trice declared war on the U.S. government to seek restitution for the centuries-old marginalization of her people. Her story is told in the documentary Idaho's Forgotten War, which screens tonight at Boise State. The event is free and more details can be found here.
