Need Something to Do Friday?

Posted By on Fri, Apr 23, 2010 at 10:37 AM

During a time when the world is overun by soul sucking Disney vampires Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, creative music struggles to be noticed among the tween idol throng.

Luckily, Boise gives local and national artists a chance to bring their tunes to the masses with the Boise Creative and Improvised Music Festival (BCIMF) at The Venue today from 7:30-10 p.m. and Saturday from 1:30-10:30 p.m.

Since 2006, the BCIMF has provided the community with fresh sounds. This year's event features eighteen acts including Kris Hartung, Emily Hay, Tone Ghosting and Prehistoric Horse.

What the hell is Tone Ghosting? Get your ghost story from DJ Panic, the mastermind behind the electronic/dub experiment.

Maybe modern improv music trio, Prehistoric Horse, will regale you with the legacy of the Equus simplicidens Hagerman fossil. Hmm ... maybe not.

All events are free. A complete schedule is available at http://www.b-cimf.com/main.html

Check out live video streaming footage of BCIMF.
