2010 Alive After Five Local Openers Announced

Go Listen Boise has finalized their list of local openers for Alive After Five this summer. Fortunately, set-up restrictions were eased this time around so that the line-up will now include acts with drums.

“They didn’t put any restrictions on the drums this year,” said Go Listen Boise’s Ali Ward. “We’ve asked the musicians to be flexible with their stage plots because we only have a limited number of inputs because of the sound requirements. But we haven’t had to say 'no drummers' this year, so that’s been great.”

Though the City of Boise wasn’t able to provide a stipend to pay this year’s crop of musicians, a local restaurant has stepped forward to fund the program.

Donnie Mac's has come on to sponsor financially paying for all the local bands because the city wasn’t able to do that this year,” said Ward. “They’re excited about the partnership because they’re wanting to add more local music to their business plan … The city has been awesome and they’ve been super supportive of Go Listen Boise with some other grants but they didn’t have the additional money for that project this year."

Though the Downtown Boise Association is still solidifying their headlining acts, here's a rundown of the 18 local acts—none of which performed last year—which made the cut out of more than 60 applicants:
