Boise Blues Society Hosts Annual Picnic Saturday

Although we may be heading into the dog days of summer, there is absolutely no need to feel blue. However, feeling the blues is a different story.

On Sunday, July 18 from noon-6 p.m., the Boise Blues Society throws down their 19th annual picnic at Julia Davis Park. The Boise Blues Society Picnic returns for a day of solo and group blues numbers from the likes of headliner Lady Bianca, Detroit-based Carl Holmes, International Blues Challenge competitors and an all-star youth band from the Boise Blues Camp.

Two-time Grammy nominee Lady Bianca, who started her career as a background singer with artists such as Frank Zappa and Van Morrison, channels the soulful stylings of Aretha Franklin and Etta James into bluesy numbers including “Lay it Down Like You Mean It” and “A Woman Never Forgets.”

Bring two cans of food—or more, if you're feeling especially generous—for the Idaho Foodbank to obtain admission to the event. Food from Idaho BBQ and Oriental Express, and beer from Jo’s Traveling Bar will also be available.
