Flying to Interbike

Posted By on Wed, Sep 22, 2010 at 1:58 PM

Ever wonder where to find the latest tech and coolest new products in the bicycle world? Once a year, the largest bicycle industry expo in the United States takes center stage in our neighboring state to the south, Nevada. All week long, everyone who's anyone in the two-wheeled world will be pressing the flesh in Las Vegas, unveiling the trade secrets for 2011, and negotiating future sponsorships.

It's called Interbike, and it's the reason I scoured the Southwest Airlines website for a bargain flight to Sin City today. Direct flights from Boise to Las Vegas are easy to find, so it's no wonder that many of my local Facebook friends have posted their status as "Viva Las Vegas!" or "Heading to Interbike this week." I don't need an excuse to meet up with my Boulder-based brother who writes for VeloNews, or my Denver-based buddy who works for SRAM, but since they'll both be there, making the trip just makes sense.

Now, with just a few hours remaining to brush up on my craps game and reconfigure my poker face, I'm off in search of bargain tickets to Cirque du Soleil. Tune in next week for news on the best and brightest for biking in 2011. Or wait. Maybe not. After all, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right?
