Need Something to do Today?

The nickelodeon was a blow to Vaudeville, but it wasn't until the talkies came along that it really took a dive. And if you ever read any literature or history of the time—I'd highly recommend Harpo Speaks, Harpo Marx's autobiography—you'll likely feel sad at the loss of the wide variety of unmitigated weirdness that performers used to offer.

Nowadays, we have music and theater and films that stretch the potential of the imagination. But no one's milking a live cow onstage while singing as a leadup to a family that gargles in harmony followed by a midget performing Shakespeare.

Or are they?

While there's no guarantees of cows or Elizabethan midgetry, tonight at Neurolux you can catch The Red Light Variety Show, a mish-mash of burlesque dancers, musicians and general weirdos there to prance for your amusement. And if it goes well, maybe they'll bring the cow next time.
