Need Something to do Monday?

I grew up in Ashland Oregon, home of the largest Shakespeare festival on the west coast. Every year of primary school our class would be sent on a forced march to see some dusty old piece of tripe like Hamlet or Macbeth, the kind of plays that no six-year-old can possibly relate to or even understand. I didn't see a play written after 1950 until I was 22 which made me think not only that classics sucked, but that theater did as well. Luckily I walked into the wrong class in college and all that changed. But I can't be the only one who never gave theater or the classics a chance.

So tonight, if you're one of those people, why not take a leap with Boise Contemporary Theatre's New Classic Reading Series.

Tonight's show will be The Glass Menagerie, by Tennessee Williams, the story of a somewhat dysfunctional southern family.

It starts at 7 p.m. and costs $12.
