OK skiers and snowboarders, brace yourselves for a double-dose of good news.

First: Brundage Mountain in McCall will open for the season on Saturday, Dec. 4. The resort has received nearly 2 feet of snow in the last week, giving it a base depth of 22 inches with 36 inches at the summit, with more snow on the way. Only the front side of the mountain will open on Saturday, with the Blue Bird quad, Easy Street triple, Bear Chair and Centennial triple running from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Officials said roughly 1,340 acres of the mountain's 1,500 skiable acre will be open this weekend.

Second: Skiers can ski for FREE between Monday, Dec. 6, and Thursday, Dec. 9. That's right, free. To mark its 50th season, Brundage is offering customers the chance to hit the slopes gratis. All you have to do is download a coupon and present it at the ticket booth for a free day pass. Only one restriction: the offer is only good once per person.

In other ski news, Sun Valley is opening the Challenger quad on Friday, Dec. 3, and Lookout Express on Saturday, Dec. 5. And closer to home, night skiing at Bogus Basin starts tonight. Now, if you can just make it through the slush to get there.
