In a sport where athletes are pushing virtually every physical and geographic limitation to unimaginable extremes, Colorado ski pioneer Chris Davenport has made a name for himself as one of the most creative and versatile alpinists in the world, most notably as a guinnea pig for several epic uncharted first ascents/descents. This time around, Davenport looked further south to keep things interesting.

Davenport's new film, Australis, chronicles some of the best lines in the most unforgiving terrain on earth ... Antarctica. He will be in Sun Valley/Ketchum this week for screenings of the film. Proceeds benefit the Sawtooth National Forest Avalanche Center.

Both screenings take place on Thursday, Dec. 16. The first is at 6 p.m. at the Sun Valley Opera House with an introduction by Davenport; and the second is at 8 p.m. at Whiskey Jacques. Admission to each showing is $10 at the door.
