Stepping through the door is like stepping back in time. Big glass-ball chandeliers, exposed brick walls and an antique wooden bar bring you to a simpler time in America’s past. It’s a place where locals know that the drinks, the crowd and the music will live up to it’s reputation as one of the best bars in America. Maybe that’s what has kept the downtown Boise landmark in business for a whopping 34 years.

Tonight, the bar celebrates this milestone with John Hansen, a local musician who has been playing there for almost as long as Pengilly’s has been around. Tyler Nelson will do a special reading of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and regulars Frim Fram Four will wrap things up. The party starts at 5 p.m. and is FREE.
