Fresh Snow = Happy Holidays for Skiers

Posted By on Tue, Dec 21, 2010 at 11:37 AM

Christmas has come early for skiers and snowboarders. Santa slipped in early with a ton of fresh powder, allowing area ski areas to open up even more terrain for the bundled masses.

Not only did Tamarack start up its lifts for the first time since bankruptcy shuttered the resort's slopes in March 2009, but Sun Valley Resort just announced it will be opening all of Baldy on Wednesday, Dec. 23. The resort has received more than 1 foot of snow in the last 48 hours, bringing the summit depth to 55 inches with 39 inches at the base. Sun Valley is also hosting numerous holiday events and lodging packages marking both Christmas and the 75th season for the grand dame of ski resorts.

Closer to home, the crew at Bogus Basin Mountain Resort is loving the early holiday treat of the roughly 15 inches of snow they've gotten since Dec. 18. The ski hill is now boasting 45 inches at the summit and 42 inches at the base.

Brundage Mountain in McCall was also on Santa's good list, receiving 11 inches of snow since Dec. 18. The resort now has 53 inches on top with 37 inches at the base. Brundage also happens to be sharing the wealth with an assortment of holiday events marking its 50th season.
