You know those times you’re digging through a stack of used vinyl at a thrift store and you come across a tattered late-’70s gem—like Kenny Loggins’ Keep The Fire, where he’s robe-clad with a glowing beard, cradling a ball of light—and you think to yourself “Wow, this would make an excellent gift.” So you buy it and then it sits around on your record shelf because you’re too embarrassed to actually give it to any of your friends? Well, tonight is Kenny’s chance to shine.

From 7-10 p.m. at the Modern Hotel and Bar, Vinyl Preservation Society of Idaho is hosting Celebrate Festivus III, which includes holiday-themed record playing and a “White Elephant Gift Exchange/Awkward Hugging” session from 8:30-9 p.m. Here are the White Elephant guidelines, according to VPS:

“Please bring a new or used vinyl-related gift (i.e. no smoked sausage or Snuggies). Invest as much or as little as you wish, but we recommend something in the neighborhood of $10.”
