Derrick Brown Kills it at The Rose Room

Former paratrooper and current poet Derrick Brown performed at The Rose Room on Feb. 12.

His show featuring music, comedy, road stories and readings was a brief peek into the strange and wonderful mind of one of America's most thrilling literary talents. By the end of the show, as Brown's voice crescendoed during a conversation with God in his poem, "A Finger, Two Dots, Then Me," there wasn't a dry eye in the house or a belly that wasn't still aching from laughter. Brown promised a unique poetry experience, and he delivered in spades.

If you weren't there, you missed out something fierce. But BW took a video camera to give you a taste. Sadly, the video doesn't come remotely close to capturing the experience, but hopefully it's enough of an amuse bouche that you'll be sure to sit down for a full meal of Brown if and when he returns to Boise.
