Scottish American Athletic Association Entertains Vets for St. Patty's Day

Members of the Idaho chapter of the Scottish American Athletic Association gathered on the lawn of Boise's VA hospital yesterday to put on an exhibition of the highland games, a series of strength-based competitions in which competitors throw everything from hammers to logs for distance.

"This is the perfect way for us to give back to our veterans," said Charles McClain, sponsorship coordinator for SAAA Idaho. "It's not on Veterans' Day, when everyone knows they should come thank a veteran."

SAAA Idaho meets once a week at the Charles F. McDevitt Youth Sports Complex for open practice.
