Need Something to do Wednesday?

Robert M. Pirsig's 1974 novel, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, discussed at length the motorcycle's ability to make a driver feel connected and at one with the road and the world in a way that a car never could. This, Pirsig felt, was emblematic of a larger divide in society between those who wished to understand and take part even if it meant being inconvenienced, and those who preferred to remain comfortably ignorant. But for women, motorcycling has long been a male-dominated pastime, which takes a huge bite out of the motorcycle's ability to enlighten.

So, today, why not do something about it?

Ladies, if you're ready to get your motor running and get out on the highway, swing by High Desert Harley-Davidson tonight at 6 p.m. for the Garage Party. It's a chance for women to get a primer on motorcycling and all that goes with it. There will be some tasty snacks, and shop staff will be on hand to answer questions and get you ready to ride with an assortment of activities and a word or two from guest speaker and rider Alana from WOW 104.3's Mornings with Randy and Alana.

The event is FREE, but RSVP to or 208-338-5599. Sorry, gentlemen, this shindig is for ladies only.
