Each year, the Boise Ad Federation hosts the Rockie Awards, a good-natured, yet highly competitive contest recognizing the best in creativity that Idaho's advertising industry has to offer.

At last weekend's award ceremony, Boise Weekly took home a Rockie in the category of "newspaper self-promotion single display, insert or specialty," for our Get a Little Ink on Your Fingers in-house campaign.

Conceived of by BW's in-house King of Creative—seriously, even we editorial people consult him for ideas on the regular—and Graphic Designer Adam Rosenlund, the campaign had two purposes. First, we were getting back to our roots with a push to print (get some ink on your fingers, heh, heh ... get it?) and second, to advertise boiseweekly.com with an ad identical to the first but with the added phrase "or not."

Although acceptance speeches aren't part of the deal at the awards show, we thought we'd give Rosenlund his chance here and now:

"I am proud and humbled to add this Rockie Award to the very top of my list of accomplishments, all of which can be read in my forthcoming obituary after I am crushed by a crate of off-brand diapers falling from a cargo plane."

And now you can see why he's our go-to creative guy.
