The Liverdance in Photos

The Warlocks Bicycle Club held its sixth annual Liverdance alley cat race over the weekend. The race holds a special place in my heart, since it was how I learned my way around town after moving to Boise last year. It was also the most fun I've ever had with heart palpitations.

But even if the race didn't already have that emotional anchor, this year's still would have been great.

Several dozen cyclists ranging from stone-faced and SPD-shod hipsters on fixies to casual commuters on cruisers gathered at the fountain in Ann Morrison Park at 1 p.m. Saturday for the four-stop race in which the rider chooses his or her own route and the organizers pack it with stunts.

After huffing up the hill to drink a beer at The Plank, schlepping out to the Veteran's Park Albertsons to buy groceries, greenbelting it to the Library! to find a copy of Cycling for Life, and then back to Sunset Park, racers combined the ingredients they picked up at their second stop for a barbecue in the sun.

If there was a better way to spend a beautiful spring Saturday, this reporter doesn't know what it is.
