Idaho Celebrates Organic Week

Posted By on Fri, Jun 17, 2011 at 3:00 PM

Drop those pesticides, Idaho Organic Week is coming up. June 18-24 has been officially declared as such by Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter and the Idaho State Department of Agriculture.

The weeklong celebration of veggies without chemicals aims to raise awareness of Idaho-grown organic products. The Gem State ranks in the Top 10 for production of numerous crops and is home to more than 250 organic farms.

“Organic production is an important segment of Idaho agriculture that generates over $70 million in sales, and I am glad we can recognize the significance of organic agriculture in Idaho,” said Celia Gould, Agriculture Department director.
