Need Something To Do Monday?

We're post-Boise Bike Week, mid-Pedal for the People, and heading deep into summer and all the community bicycle opportunities the season presents.

But, to paraphrase Pee Wee Herman, "You're a rebel, Dottie, a loner."

Maybe you want to do as Freddy Mercury said and "Get on your bike and ride," but you don't want to be part of some festival that everyone else is a part of. To quote Fleetwood Mac, "You can go your own way."

So, today, why not do exactly that?

Out of town, but still bike-themed, is Geared, an open exhibition on the culture of bicycles at The Sun Valley Center for the Arts.

The exhibit features art from Lisa Anne Auerbach, Margarita Cabrera, Dzine, Katina Huston and Dinh Q. Le, and bicycles by Ahearne Cycles, Hufnagel Cycles and Schwinn, and aims to explore the bicycle as an object of recreation, transportation and engineering.

So, there you go. All bikes and no Boise, a cycling misanthrope's dream. Get in there, champ. Like The B52s said, "It wasn't a rock, it was a rock lobster." Yeah, think about that one for awhile.

The exhibit runs through Friday, Sept. 23, which means you have enough time to cycle there if you leave soon.
