Need Something To Do Tuesday?

Posted By on Tue, Jul 5, 2011 at 7:00 AM

You like to pole dance in the name of fitness. Or maybe your thing is to have someone yell like a drill sergeant in your face while you sweat your ass off doing push-ups. Whatever gets you going, there's probably an exercise class designed around it—including hula-hooping.

Boise Hoopla offers exercise classes in which you can whittle away your waistline with a grown-up use of the childhood toy. Lynn Knickrehm-Fisher, the founder of Boise Hoopla, is a certified HoopGirl teacher and offers classes at Camel's Back Park.

A new six-week session starts this evening at 6 p.m. and meets on consecutive Tuesdays through Aug. 16. Hoops are provided or are available for purchase as well. They are slower, heavier and prettier than the one you had as a kid.

Pre-registration is required—visit the Boise Hoopla website to do so. The class is designed for beginners and will set you back $50 for the six sessions.
