Tanzanite Salon and Spa's Catwalk Collection Drops Jaws

Arriving on Eighth Street for the Tanzanite Salon and Spa Fashion Show, I found a spot that gave me a good view of the catwalk—a black platform that would later bring the models above the crowd. People stood in clusters: women in wedge sandals and summer dresses and a few men, most of whom were sporting wayfarers and light button-up shirts. Everyone seemed to be wearing a fedora.

The music took command of the street before the MCs began announcing the models and the boutiques/shops that dressed them, including Fancy Pants, Shoe Fetish, Piece Unique, Barbara Barbara & Co., Belle and Modern Man—some of the models' ensembles had me considering just how high my credit limit is and how others were pure art.

But the collection that really dropped jaws was that of the WCA's boutique thrift store, simply named The Shop. The featured vintage-style dresses would challenge any non-thrifter to give shopping at secondhand stores another shot.

The models' make-up was dramatic and hairstyles were bold, but those were the only aspects that were consistent. So many different men and women walked the runway in so many different styles. One of the best was this vintage, black-checkered halter dress with pockets, from The Shop.
