i48 to Stage New Horror Movie Competition in October: h48

Though Halloween-themed entertainment was already shaping up nicely with a local production of Evil Dead: The Musical, October just got a whole lot bloodier.

After repeated requests, the organizers of i48, Boise's annual 48-hour film-making competition, announced today that they will do away with PG stipulations and let local auteurs bring on the blood and guts in a special film competition this fall:

From the announcement:

The first (and possibly annual) Horror Idaho Forty Eight Hour Film Competition and Festival is a spin-off from the i48 Competition and Festival held every May-June. In response to the frequent request from i48 teams for the “horror” genre and a relaxation of the i48 requirement that films be “PG” comes the opportunity to make movies as gory and profane as you want. Teams of filmmakers will have 48 hours to write, pre-produce, cast, shoot, and edit, an original short horror film five to seven minutes long. A week later, all eligible films will be screened at the Horror Idaho 48 Film Festival at the Country Club Reel Theatre in Boise.

The competition will run Oct. 21-23. It costs $50 to enter and is open to anyone with the fake guts to enter.

Complete information is available at the i48 website.
