Get Sauced in Your Underpants With Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin Tonight

Posted By on Fri, Dec 2, 2011 at 12:51 PM

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin (also known by the thankfully shorter acronym SSLYBY) will play at Neurolux tonight, Friday, Dec. 2. And fortunately, the band's approval ratings are considerably higher than the booze-loving former Russian president's once were.

Founded in Springfield, Mo., in 1999—the last year the band's namesake was in office—SSLYBY rose from the ashes of its members' previous grunge bands. The group has crafted an indie pop sound that has received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The band's poetic lyrics and falsetto vocals, especially on songs like "House Fire" and "Think I Wanna Die," blend well with the minimalist guitar.

Opening for SSLYBY is Ha Ha Tonka, another Springfield band. Decidedly more Southern rock-inspired, the band derives its name from a state park in the Ozarks. Ha Ha Tonka has released three studio albums, the first of which, Buckle in the Bible Belt, was recorded in an old barn. The band's sound blends gospel harmonies with indie and Southern rock and some tracks even include mandolin along with intense percussion and vocals.

Tickets are $10 at the door and the show starts at 8 p.m.
