Collapse Theater Releases New Film, The Commercial Network

Posted By on Wed, Dec 7, 2011 at 3:01 PM

Boise's own cultural anarchists in residence, Collapse Theater, just closed shop on its debut full-length theatrical production, Outside.

The play was a dystopian sitcom depicting the paranoia a family experiences when experiencing life solely through the media, instead of venturing outside their north Idaho home.

As part of the play, the author and filmmaker Kelly Broich debuted a new short film with similar themes called The Commercial Network. It's a disturbing creation, made all the more disturbing by the fact that so much of it isn't actually Broich's original work, just clips of real commercials edited into a narrative. To quote the great Roger Clyne: "The world ain't gone crazy baby, it was born that way."
